Can you guess what I am? - Today while inventorying Quartz, I picked up this piece to look at it. Karen said to flip it over to see all the rainbows. In doing so, and in studying it, I realized that it felt waaaayyy to heavy for Quartz. We then started looking at the crystallinity and realized it had been mistakenly marked as Quartz from the miner! This is why it is so important to know your minerals. It is actually Topaz and far more valuable. Thankfully due to the fact that Topaz’s density is 3.55 compared to Quartz’s 2.65, I was able to feel through the heft, that something was not right! It was a fun mistake to find an a lovely piece! The rainbows are amazing in person.
