Hazel Quinn update

Hazel has cut three teeth this week. She also must be going through a crazy growth spurt because she's been waking up again from 11-1 for bottles.

She's 16lbs (14th percentile) and 26" (2nd percentile) my short little girl 😍😂. Which means she's only grown 8" she was born! She got her first half of the flu shot and won't be getting the second until after her surgery.

Her cleft palate repair surgery is less than a month away and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't growing more anxious the closer we get to it. 😰😰

She can say "momma" and what sounds like "hello" she says herroooo since she has no palate for "l" sounds. She can sign "daddy," we are working on mommy, sister, milk, hungry, please, all done, more. She's now in swim lessons. She's trying to crawl but really has no interest in it she would much rather walk if she could. Lillian started crawling at 10 months so I'm expecting her to do so any day now. We got her a walker and I forgot what it was like having a mobile baby and she gets into EVERYTHING she seems more adventurous than Lillian already.

Update on Hazel

Last month was filled with specialist and doctor appointments.. geneticist, audiology and ENT, normal well check, etc. She had to go for weight checks with her pedi because they need to make sure she's gaining/eating as she should. If she was having difficulty gaining, a feeding tube would be necessary, but she's a champ with the specialty bottles 💪🏻. However, bub has a cold and has been pretty lazy about the bottle.. I've brought her to the doctors but they say as long as she's making drool and wet diapers and isn't feverish, then she just needs to work the virus out. She has fluid in both ears, surprise surprise, and it is causing some hearing difficulty. But they used this headphone-thing that sent vibration waves through her skull and her permanent hearing isn't affected! So once her tubes are put in during the corrective palate surgery she will be good to go! 7-10 months until corrective surgery! We will schedule it probably next month when we go back to see the craniofacial specialists.

I’m Back!

I’ve been away from tumblr for about a year and a half or so. I had my baby, she’s had some surgeries, and now we’re just enjoying life as a tiny family. Life is good, and I’m happy that I stuck through everything to get to where I am now. Life is good right now, even when it gets difficult.

I've been so busy! I want to update as much as possible but I'm just SO TIRED. Hazel just got back from the pedi, she has a fever of 101.1 and a double ear infection. Tylenol has helped with the pain that she was able to fall asleep. I'm on fever watch until Saturday morning if she doesn't break it. She is now on augmentin 🤢. Also learned that she may be able to be put on a daily suppressive antibiotic to help keep these at bay since she's going to have this fluid in her ears until the palate surgery. 😩 My day off tomorrow is going to be spent cuddling and napping with Hazel ALL DAY 💗
