Thinking about an au where Clervie decides one day that, well, her Mother is a mortal woman, and mortal women tend to die when you kill them. If there is one guaranteed way to escape the House for a little eight year old girl, it is to depose of Mother and then simply leave in the resulting chaos, to take her brand new best friend in Peruere and walk out.

The two of them fend for themselves for a couple weeks before getting rounded back up again by the Fatui. Hard to miss that Crucabena had a daughter, sure, but more than that the House was made in part for Peruere, this creature from outside Teyvat. Both difficult children to reconcile with losing, and how convenient to find them again together.

But with Crucabena dead so too are her long-term plans, making Clervie a perfectly regular orphan. So she goes to one of Fontaine's orphanages, while the false descender, accursed scion of the Crimson Moon, is corralled off by the Fatui, secreted to somewhere in Snezhanya where Clervie must accept she will never visit.

Clervie is taken in by an older couple, who are sweet enough but, in wishing that Clervie might content herself with living within four walls, harshly misjudge her willingness to betray her own character. Clervie leaves after a time, spends another few years on the road with only her own wit for company. In this time she becomes somewhat sly, clever, in large part due to necessity- she is hounded by the Fatui. She does wonder why, given she is, again, little more than a typical orphan, but to find out would be to allow herself to get too close to them for comfort.

She travels, works one hundred odd jobs for children just beginning to be teenagers, spends one hundred nights beneath the sky and nothing else. It is lonely to be free, but still preferable to the alternative.

Then one day her luck runs out. She wakes up with a knife to her throat and is reminded of how she did away with Crucabena nearly half a lifetime ago. She does not argue with the Fatui Legionnaires when they drag her to Snezhanya. Mortal women do die when they are killed, after all- which is really the only thing that Clervie can assume this is about! It must be that they found out it was her who killed her Mother.

Clervie sits in a jail cell in Snezhnaya and death in the form of a very strange Peruere appears to speak to her. She is recognizable, even despite the years of time between them. She is, after all, Clervie's Perrie. She is a dog known to bite, given to someone who could better take care of her. Yet still it seems she misses her master dearly because Peruere explains that Clervie is here for the express purpose of being trapped in with her again.

Clervie is Peruere's reward for good behavior. Clervie made it out and got dragged back in again, just for Peruere. Clervie needs to hope that Peruere is mortal, because mortal dogs can die, and dead dogs can't get treats.

The one thing she was ever good at was getting out. She just needs to do it again. Starting with getting close enough to kill this Harbinger-raised beast with her friend's face and ending with running out into the snow, not worth the trouble of catching anymore.

What about an Arlechino -> MC -> Arlechino!Mc???

Like Arlechino goes as canon but then dies from… how about she dies from protecting the House of Hearth and Lyney + Lynette + Freminet we’re the ones to hold her body and cry and beg for her to stay. She just gave them a SMILE and told them she was sorry but she did not expect forgiveness.

And then she died.

Then she became MC all while remembering EVERYTHING from their life as Arlechino so they plays the games to know everything and such. They even became an orphanage owner/caretaker.

And then they died and became Arlechino!Mc.

Uhhh maybe this time she managed to save Clervie, killed their ‘Mother’ but then fled because welll… Clervie was alive, she would do MUCH better than she did.

Besides, Arlechino didn’t deserve to take care of children, didn’t deserve to see their smiles. She didn’t deserve it and she didn’t want to hurt ANYONE, much less the children.

So she fled.

And Clervie became the Mama of the House of Hearth, taking in all the canon children and such, becoming the fourth Harbinger.

And so Arlechino helps from the shadows.

Unaware that the Fatui, Clervie, House of Hearth Children, and Fontaine all remembered her from her first life.

Safe to say everyone is confused and VERY worried.

Especially the twins and Freminet because their Father had died protecting them and apparently they now have a mama but where was Father!!!!

Arlechino meanwhile becomes someone akin to Dainsleif, fighting against the Abyss Order and child traffickers and human trade rings and abusers.

Is this making sense????

Also she wears a mask, cloak, and never actually spoke in this new life. Because she did not wish to be discovered.

She’s actually become friends with Dainsleif and he feels like he recognizes something about her. And then he witness her ability and it clicks. She was a Khaenrian descendant… holy shit. And she has starry eyes too!!! (Yes he’s seen her face)

Wait… did Capitano and Pierro actually know about her Khaenrian ancestry??? Uhhh… I don’t think they did but even if they did in canon they didn’t in this au as both Arlechino and definitely not as Arlechino!Mc if that makes sense?????

Arlecchino!MC angst? Ohh I like where we're going with this! With Clervie being alive, Arlecchino!MC running for the hills, and ALL the Fatui remembering her and being confused/worried about her whereabouts it is shaping up to angtsy au.

I'm pretty sure Pierro knew of her being Khaenri'ahn descent. He was the one to explain her Crimson Moon Bloodline to her if I remember correctly. Not sure about Capitano, but if Pierro knew he would most likely know as well.
