Tonight's film is... Silent Running (1972) One of the major Sci-Fi films besides Solaris I haven't seen. Directed by Douglas Trumball, one of the special effects artists of all time from 2001 to The Tree of Life. Notably as one of the co-writers of the film was the late Academy Award Winning Filmmaker Michael Cimino. Called as the more optimistic Sci-Fi film as opposed to the cold 2001: A Space Odyssey. Always hear Mark Kermode talk about this film. He once said in one of his blogs he preferred it over 2001. Anyway, have to find out for myself.
