It's like a pit stop for flying race cars at a super colony of Cliff Swallows. Some cool facts: - In large colony like this, they exhibit extensive vocalizations to coordinate feeding and safety. This group is very vocal and sings loudly to itself. - They like to blend and feed with other swallow species and will always be the ones feeding at the highest layers. - As a 'parasitic nester' they lay extra eggs in neighboring nests as a survival strategy. Typical brood size is 4, so if you see more in a nest they are raising a sneaky neighbor's kid. Because they are one of the more social birds on the planet, they will raise another's chick without concern even though it means their own will not have enough food and eventually succumb to the neighbor's stronger and healthier kids.
