@theredmillmuseum (left), the south Branch of the Raritan #River, and the @hunterdonartmuseum (right) in Clinton, #NewJersey. The present Red Mill was constructed about 1810 by Ralph Hunt. The building changed in appearance and size throughout its operating history, which ended in 1928. It processed grist, flour, wool, graphite, and talc. The Mulligan Limestone Quarry operated on the hill next to the mill. In 1960, the property became a museum village, with the restoration of the mill and other buildings on the site. The stone #mill (which is now the Hunterdon Art Museum) was built in 1836 by Nehemiah Dunham. In 1952, the mill was put up for sale by its current owner and miller, Joseph Kreidel. In 1953, James R. Marsh of Pittstown invested much of the $10,000 asking price and wrote the proposal to turn the building into an arts center/museum.
