Clone Appreciation Week - day 2, relationships
That's my MOM and DAD
Its clone appreciation week! And starting off with spare time we have some of the 829th relaxing in the barracks. The second imagine is offical clone wars art, that I used as my background.
CAW 2020 - Day 1: Spare Time
Smoke Squad:
It's an open secret that Smokies have holodrama nights. They all know the plotlines are stupid and ridiculous and tangled, but they are a fun distraction and they help everyone relax. They never really discuss it outside of their ship, because it is a Special Them Thing, but Dogma, Shrapnel, and later Tup get essentially inducted and Max gives them the high-speed rundown on where the drama is currently at so they're caught up enough. If you miss Holo Night for whatever reason, you will be excitedly caught up on what happened the next day by whichever vod catches you first.
Individually, they all have different hobbies. The most notable ones are ARC trooper Qet, who cooks and starts learning to draw and gets quite good at it, and Sie, who learns tailoring and embroidery and is very excited in his way when Ilar, Qet's son, shows interest, and he teaches the little Twi'lek a lot. He's very proud of Ilar's tailoring skills, and helps him embroider his first big project (a lightweight jacket for his mother).
Panther Squad:
Most of Panther Squad have interesting hobbies. Bard, as his name suggests, writes music and poetry and practices with his bes'bev, and collects tea. Careen claims that curating caf varieties counts as a hobby, while his best friend, Xhona, says it's simply the physical manifestation of his caffeine addiction, but she'll still bring him new ones if she finds them. Recoil wrestles with anyone willing including Allesh the giant gal-panther, and when he isn't, he actually really enjoys reading plays and trying out the parts in his room (if he wasn't a soldier, he'd be an actor). Nuhur likes to paint, usually with acrylics or tempera, but sometimes watercolour. No one is quite sure what Blink does for a while when he disappears, until someone (who shouldn't have been there either) finds him lying in a ceiling vent with a datapad and disecting the phonetic structure of Gree: he does online university courses on linguistics and xenoanthropology. He finds it difficult to study in his room. Jaig keeps to himself for a while, and it's Fives who finally finds out that he likes to tinker with things. He got good with figuring out where things go with the Force, and he did build his own lightsaber and a number of different types of non-lethal explosives (specifically miniature smoke bombs which could be used for a quick getaway).
Pel'verd Company:
Cody would insist that Feedback's favourite hobby is annoying him. (It isn't, that's just because Cody is his older brother and he can.) Actually, it's writing. Pulse, Rahn, and Blackout have a habit of getting into mischief, which most people wouldn't expect from Blackout until they remember he is both a tactician and Pulse's best friend. Pyr's is biochemistry, especially trying to figure out ways of making things more efficient or effective, and keeping track of his brother to make sure Ink doesn't do anything stupid (he's a bit harsh, but Ink did also forget to eat for four days once so...). Kohs likes cooking when he can. Ink does... Whatever his current hyperfixation is. Dawnwatch likes nature documentaries, and Milo will watch them with him when he gets the chance. Totem practices swordwork, often with Feedback, Tak, or Rahn. He finds the repetition soothing. Morpheus is... Well, it seems to be people watching, which is fair, but even Dawnwatch, who becomes closest to him, doesn't quite know.
Wolfpack boys:
Plasma enjoys doing makeup, especially eye makeup. He's got his bright orange tattoos, so he likes experimenting with them. Parsec runs, especially at night when he can't sleep. Eclipse spends an inordinate amount of time in the sparring room and is the best hand-to-hand fighter they've got. Orbit watches anything he can get his hands on, and does essentially parkour (get down from there kid holy shit).
Clone appreciation week day 1: Spare time. Armz here tinkering with "Big Bantha", the over sized blaster.
Day 4: Appearances
petal’s squad discussing names and going at each other’s lives
“What is that supposed to be?”
Shade looked up at the sound of Petal’s voice to find him raising an eyebrow down at his helmet. Cracking a grin at the commander, he said, “Sun rays,” beaming proudly before going back to his work carefully streaking the helmet with gold paint. Petal was silent for a moment, then let out a long, exasperated sigh.
“Are you serious? Why didn’t you name yourself Sunshine again?” he asked, leaning against the wall across from Shade.
“Because I didn’t want a stupid cutesy name like you,” Shade replied. Petal’s affronted silence was tangible, forcing Shade to bite back a laugh.
“It’s not cutesy,” Petal finally protested after a moment.
“What’s not cutesy?” Kickstart asked, as he and Scree both came in.
“Does Petal still think his name isn’t cutesy?” Scree asked, stepping past Kickstart and nearly falling onto Shade.
“Watch it!” Shade snapped, jerking the paintbrush away before tilting his helmet and squinting at it for any mistakes.
“I mean it’s not that soft-”
Not finding any mistakes, Shade let out a bark of laughter, interrupting Petal. “Yeah it’s real intimidating,” he mocked. “Oh no, Commander Petal’s after us, we better run for the hills- ow, hey!” He rubbed the back of his head where Kickstart had hit him.
“You’re the one painting the karking sun on your helmet, Sunshine,” Petal countered, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Hey,” Shade said, waving the paintbrush at him, sending gold paint splattering across the floor and earning a cry of protest from Petal as some of the drops landed on him. “I’m just trying to be cheerful.”
Kickstart snorted, tossing a rag at Petal for the paint. “How can Shade be the most cheerful out of all of us and have the edgiest name? It’s false advertising.”
“Oh you’re one to talk about false advertising,” Shade said, twisting to narrow his eyes at Kickstart. Kickstart’s cheeky grin only egged him on. “People are gonna come to you and be like ‘Kickstart huh? Wow I’ll bet you got that name saving someone’s life since you’re a medic!’”
Petal ducked his head, busying himself with scrubbing the paint away to hide his laughter as Shade mimicked what these people would apparently sound like.
“But nooooo,” Shade continued, rising to his feet. “We couldn’t get the generator to turn on so what do you do? You just saunter on up,” he said, starting forward in a risque mockery of Kickstart, earning a wicked explosion of laughter from everyone in the room, “and you kick the damn thing and it starts right up! So don’t you be coming at me about false advertising,” he said over Kickstart’s loud cackling.
“Good to know I’m the only one with a sensible name,” Scree said, grinning from the corner he was perched in, where he’d been silently watching the exchanges.
“Your name sounds like a chair being pushed across the floor,” Petal said bluntly. Dead silence filled the room for a single moment before exploding into chaos. Kickstart leaped to his feet to grab Scree, nearly hanging off of him as Shade reeled from the attack with an “OHHHHHH”. Scree let his head fall into his hands, while Petal looked on smugly.
The chaos died down gradually, taking its time with more snide jabs and raucous laughter.
“I’m glad we all got shit names,” Shade snickered once they all died down a bit.
“Speak for yourself, I like mine,” Petal said.
“I’m sure you do,” Shade said, nodding, wide eyed. “Big bad Petal’s gonna defeat the entire Separatist army single handedly with the power of ass flowers.”
Petal waved him off, rolling his eyes. “Shut up, Sunshine.”
“Are we going to make ‘Sunshine’ stick?” Kickstart asked, a wicked look on his face.
“We’re sure as hell going to try,” Scree crowed over Shade’s yelled protests.
“Hey lighten up, Sunshine, at least your armor will match your name now,” Petal said with a shit eating grin.
Shade looked over to stare Petal dead in the eye, then shrugged, grabbed the paint can and slung it toward Petal. It was a thing of beauty, happening almost in slow motion. Golden paint rose out of the can in a wave toward Petal and the commander’s expression slowly went from mocking to horrified as he threw his arms up to protect his face.
“Shade what the hell!” he yelled, spattered and dripping golden paint. Shade merely grinned and raised his hand in a rude gesture.
“Nice touch but you should’ve made it pink,” Kickstart said. “You know, like the flowers.”
“There’s always another time,” Shade said.
Clone Appreciation Week Day 5: After the Army
This crew is a crew full of rescues:
The 416th went down over Ando, a complete loss. The whole legion, General and Commander included, KIA. That’s what the Council thinks. In truth, 20 clones and their Commander weren’t back from the planet when the ship went down. Rather than face potential reconditioning, they fled.
Everyone else was saved from reconditioning or recycling.
A few guys who like a fight a little too much.
A pilot with a head injury.
A bad batch of ARCs who got a little too independent, a little too mouthy, a little too inclined to tell Generals that their orders were shit.
Precisely two survivors of General Krell.
Several PTSD cases.
Everybody has PTSD, which manifests itself in various ways. Some get quiet, some get louder to cover it up. Almost everyone has nightmares. Rictor and Crash in particular are prone to panic attacks. TJ gets into fights.
After leaving, they disappear into the Outer Rim to harass slavers and provide humanitarian aid as best they can. You know, all the things the Jedi should be doing.
They eventually manage to cure the ageing.
When it comes around, they’re all pretty thrilled that the Rebellion existed. They’re just a little wary about actually joining it.
Day 6, @cloneappreciationweek, beginnings
He sure didn’t get that scar in a cool way, don’t kid yourself.
