I'm rewatching a couple of clone wars episodes for research, and Maul and Savage's entire plan is just... SO funny.

As soon as he wakes up, Maul is like "I was robbed of my destiny by Kenobi" and Savage is like "damn I guess you should get revenge then" and Maul is like "damn you're right." They slaughter some innocents, fight Obi-wan and Ventress, get their ship stolen, and SOMEHOW rob a ship of all their credits. (No idea how they got there btw, maybe they found and hijacked someone else's ship, idk). Savage is like "wow, a fortune!" Maul says "true fortune would be Kenobi's demise" (which is SO funny by the way.) They meet some pirates, use the money they JUST STOLE to hire them, and say "We are lords. Crime lords. Money is no object to men like us" like um??? You literally just robbed ONE ship and are declaring yourselves lords of crime.

I saw the assassin clone get up after being blown up and being a defiant little shit to Wolffe and was like, "Oh, shit. Is that my boi?" 😨 Overall, I just don't trust the show not to throw him under the bus like this.

First we had the curse of 'by the book' and "Haha, Cody boring! Nobody (Jedi) wants to bring him along on missions because he's dumb!" Then we had the entirely of Clone Wars show where he never once got to use his jetpack or do basically any paratrooper stuff, train anybody, or be part of the breakthrough of clones being allowed to have names/identities (the show literally never explains how this went from being illegal and neigh punishable by death or 'reprogramming' to "All the good guys call clones by their names cuz they're human beings."). History with Bad Batch, nah. Squad Seven, nah. How he went AWOL from the Empire, nah. Then the inhibitor chips taking away any nuance or grey areas of Order 66 ...

At this point, I'm just waiting from them to take the very last shreds of his agency and personality away and basically turn him into the Phase 0 Dark Trooper that I was so afraid I was going to see when this series began. There's a reason why I keep watching "The Solitary Clone" from last season. Not only does it showcase some of the best parts of who Cody is and what he does, but it got to the core questions and subtleties of who the clones are and the problems they face. (basically everything I wanted from this show and Clone Wars)

It's such a weird feeling knowing that a character that quickly grew into more than just a flat background character, and built the foundation (alongside Alpha) for opening the door to all anti-war themes and other clone characters, could be back in the picture purely to receive more punishment as a mere plot device. And, I know that Cody's story is not one that the showrunners were interested in telling at any point, but it's such a bummer for me if this is how they plan on bringing his story to its canonical conclusion. Especially after the absolute gem of his episode in season 2 giving us snatches of these deeper existential themes of war, power, and being trapped in a system that harms people.

In essence, I have a bad feeling about where season 3 is going.

It’s cherishing ARC Trooper Jesse hours.

Thinking about how the writers in season 7 could have had Maul get the information on Ahsoka from any number of other people/unnamed clone troopers in the episode right before Order 66 happens, but they chose Jesse to give up the information against his will and live with the guilt of it.

I remember while I was watching it for the first time, that scene felt a little long and kind of sickening, given what was to come.

And then I realized. Oh. Every one of these soldiers (Other than Rex, of course) will never get a chance to be themselves again after Order 66. We’ll never get to see their guilt or grief.

So here’s someone we know and love. Here’s Jesse, as good a trooper as you could hope for, who’s somehow managed to make it through the war, all the way to the end. For sure, it feels a little sadistic to make him suffer through a mind-control betrayal arc right before he spearheads Order 66 for the 501st.

But! On the other hand, I think it’s actually very kind. Maybe later, on the Tribunal, Jesse will remember this first time he was forced to betray his brothers: the time when he got a chance be himself again afterwards, a chance to apologize, and have someone say “It’s okay.” and forgive him.

Why is the bad batch so white??? why are they so white?!? Where’s their melanin?? I mean, Tech and Crosshair are White Men and Echo’s got the complexion of printer paper. Beyond skin tone even, they’ve got white facial features. I’m mixed, and while i don’t share a lot of features w Temuera Morrison, it’s still so shitty to see non-white facial features get white washed away on the bad batch. What’s so wrong with black and brown faces that they can’t be represented in this show?

Also, why tf did Echo have to join tbb? there’s a whole war raging and you’re telling me there aren’t any other disabled clones? Throughout the Clone Wars, the episodes focused on the clones show the bonds they have w their brothers. And you’re telling me Echo wouldn’t be accepted by them??

I don't know why, but I always had the thought that Rex wears a t-shirt and boxers or shorts to sleep.

That’s so perfect for him tho! He’s a simple captain trying to make his way through the galaxy. He would wear a simple t-shirt and boxers, I’m thinking blue boxers, white t-shirt, comfy and practical.

I’m thinking about Rex in boxers...

Watching Palpatine get rescued so many times in the Zillo beast episodes hurts me... I am sitting here wishing that thing would just kill him already.

I’ve been seeing a lot of Jedi discourse and I just wanted to add my opinion. The Jedi Order is a deeply flawed institution, and I think that those flaws come partly from its ties to the Republic.

The Jedi were complicit in slavery. Regarding the clones, they were owned by the Republic; they were people owned by other people. This post explained it very well. Also, they did not do much, if anything, to free the slaves enslaved by the Hutts. Shmi Skywalker was left behind in slavery when the Jedi very well could have sent someone back for her. In fact, the Clone Wars movie is partly about the Jedi negotiating trade routes w Jabba. That’s complicity!

The Jedi are flawed! They are deeply flawed! But that does not mean that they deserved genocide. The Jedi deserved to face consequences for their actions, as they made bad choices. They did. But the consequence for those actions is not Order 66. Order 66 was not a result of the Jedi being flawed; it was a result of Palpatine being an evil, power-hungry piece of shit.

I couldn’t predict what the actual consequences would be. Maybe a clone uprising, or some sort of serious reckoning by the people who’s suffering they’ve allowed/enabled. But the Jedi did not deserve Order 66. A lot of people go hard one way or the other, saying that the Jedi were perfect or that they deserved to die. But the situation is so much more complicated than a black and white perspective can allow for.
