While I do understand "letting people enjoy things", and do (ex: while I dislike themes in twilight, you do you.) The clonecest shit isn't something like that. I do avoid it, I don't seek it out, but when I am forced to interact with it, or find out someone I previously trusted ships it?? That's when I get mad.
Like I've said before, clonecest is racist, and a romanticizing of REAL LIFE TRAUMA. If you're ACTUALLY exploring that, and addressing it, and tagging it as trauma and warning of incest, then fine. But people who ship clonecest don't do that.
Also excUSE me for thinking that shipping LITERAL TWINCEST IS BAD AND GROSS. Would y'all be okay with someone shipping child Luke with Obi-wan? With Leia even though they KNOW they're twins? Keeping this one under a read more as well, but I'll give you a quick rundown.

I only know what I've been told by my friend but around July to late October last year nim-lock (or nimlock on other platforms), a bobadin shipper and content creator, joined the ranks of the more prominent and respectable SW fandom artists (we're talking big name artists like Kush or even Nibeul before they left the fandom), and got a lot of support from the community in general to get their art out there by hiding the fact they were a cl*necest shipper.
One day they just let it out of the bag. The other artists had long since expressed how bad cl*necest was and that they were very much against it, and nim-lock simply ignored all that, got their art promoted for free, and then when they were satisfied they revealed their true colours.
It was basically a slap in the face to everyone who they'd gained the trust of.
As you can imagine this has caused lasting trust issues within the community because someone disrespectfully encroached on what was meant to be a safe space away from that sort of content, and while they've been blacklisted by a lot of the SW Fandom artists on Tumblr and on other social media platforms, they still basically went unpunished because their art gets a ton of views from those who don't care or don't know that they endorse incestuous/gross ships.
All I can really advise you to do for following safe people is to honestly just check out their posts and who they follow to make sure they aren't ok with stuff like that (example: cobaltbeam is known for being quite friendly with well known cl*onecest content creators and they follow nim-lock on twitter so those are massive red flags) .
I know there's a lot of new folks around that don't know everything that's gone on in the fandom (myself included), so I mostly give people the benefit of the doubt if they follow certain people that hide the fact they support cl*necest. My friend came to me on Wednesday specifically to warn me about cobaltbeam being in silent support of it so that was a bullet dodged.

It's a romantic-only version, yeah; usually I lean towards romantic soulmates for Pockets because of how the specific process of getting them and/or losing them works. It just seems like with that process people would run the risk of ending up with SO many Pockets if familial and platonic ones were also on the table, hahaha. Which is an adorable concept but would definitely be an issue for superheroes with secret ID's, lol.

The only Pockets AU I'm currently writing that isn't exclusively romantic soulmates is "matchbox pockets", and that's mostly so it can be angstier and more confusing/frustrating for Kon and Match and make it harder for them to figure out what they are/aren't to each other.
