I’m finding that the more people I meet and the older I become, the smaller the world is. Today is Friday. Tomorrow, Kyle is going to Nick’s wedding. Jenna is a bridesmaid, Nick was in my class at Scituate. And I just think it’s so great. It’s been so humbling, so beautiful to watch people I knew growing up become who they are meant to be. To come into their adulthood.
People seem happy, they are kicking ass, or at least trying because I also know we have not all had easy times since graduating high school. But I think there are few regrets.
I’ve recently noticed how on social media the people I went to high school with are supporting one another. A like = “hey that’s cool.” This comes from all groups. We’ve learned too many times over the years and this year especially that people can be lost in an instant and so the stupid cliques that existed need to go away. And they are. I think it’s cool we are just sharing our lives and accepting each other as we are. Something that was hard to do at 16.
Niki, a recent high school graduate said at YG the other night this piece of advice to the high school under classmen, “Be nice to everyone.” So true. And she doesn’t know it yet, but shes’ going to basically blink and be in her mid-20s.
Close gaps, support one another. Remember the community you came from, and embrace the community you find as an adult. Work hard, do good, be honest. I like where this is going.
And many blessings to Nick and Lizzie.
