I love the idea of Bumi II being aroace. 🧡💛🤍🩵💙
I like the idea that he defies expectations just by being himself.
I like thinking that this sailor/soldier and world-famous-nepo-baby DOESN’T have a lover waiting for him at every port. And that his wild adventure stories are never a seduction tactic… they just are!
And sure there’s the obvious source of angst: “The firstborn child of the Avatar and the last Waterbender of the SWT (two of the strongest benders in the world) turns out to be a Non-Bender.” … but there’s also the implied angst: The likelihood of Bumi II wanting to produce children that are SWT benders or that carry Airbender genetics/Air-Nomad heritage is lower.
Im just saying… with how much time Katara and Aang spend in their tweenage hormones throughout ATLA … it’d be ironic if their first kid was just unconcerned with all that mess.
I passed over 20 h on this fcking drawing and I’m tired
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
“Hi,” she greeted as Tenzin turned around. Apparently just as surprised to see her, “mind some company?”
Tenzin just shrugged but Kya took it as an invitation. Sitting down next to him and dangling her feet over the edge of the pier, Kya closed her eyes and took a deep breath, the salty smell of the ocean filling her lungs. She could feel some of the strain dissipating and already felt so much more at ease.
“Why are you awake?” Tenzin asked, breaking Kya from the hypnotic trance of the water.
“Full moon.”
It was a full moon, and neither Kya or Tenzin could sleep.
The thoughts that keep us awake
Incredibly not kyalin for once, but i wrote some cloud kids!
The moonlight filtered through the open window, softly illuminating the room. The cool breeze of the early spring kept the space in a nice temperature and carried inside the sound of crickets chirping outside. The ocean waves crashing against the sand and the rocks all the way down in the beach could also be heard from the distance.
All of these combined would usually be enough to lull Kya to sleep. But tonight was different, it was a full moon.
Kya had learned to ignore—or at the very least dull—the pull the moon had on her most of the nights, but some others it was stronger. Tonight every last nerve felt alive, the energy was coursing through her body as if begging to be released.
Tired of tossing and turning in bed and knowing sleep wouldn’t come, likely until the morning, she got up and climbed out onto the roof outside her window. As a teen this was her place to get away and to clear her mind. Sources of water were good to focus and let herself be, but on the roof with the wind caressing her face, Kya found it easier to let go of anything that was weighing her down, if only for a few hours.

[looks at unfinished drawings] cloud kids hangin out
bumi (aang’s son not the king) should have traveled the world to learn the different elements as normal martial arts. he would get aang and tenzin to teach him airbending forms, he’d sail to caldera city to learn from zuko, his mom teaches him waterbending movements and he would go to omashu to learn the traditional hung gar earthbending moves like his namesake. bumi should have been just as good of a martial artist as his brother and sister, especially while his uncle sokka and suki were still alive.
