Kristine Sutherland - November 3rd, 2018, Paris (CloudsCon)

-About her favorite character, she said it was a difficult question, because it was like asking a mother to pick her favorite child. But she finally said Buffy, because she loved the relationship Joyce had with her, but also mentioned James, saying she had a great time in her scenes with him. 

-About Dawn’s introduction on the show (it was my question :P), she said she didn’t know she was going to have a new daughter until the moment she read the script. She learned it like everybody else, when she read it, and was like, “oh, okay.”

-About the death of Joyce’s character : during season 4/before season 5 started, she told Joss she was planning on living in Rome for a year. Joss went eyes wide opened, and asked her if she was coming back, and she said yes. He then told her, “Oh good, because I’m gonna kill you off this year.” That’s how she learned that Joyce was going to die a year before it happened. Kristine told us nobody knew about the death of her character until it happened, she never told anynone. And she didn’t know *when* it was going to happen either, so in season 5, she kept reading scripts, knowing that at some point, Joyce was going to die.
