Some thoughts on 18x10

I promise to post some more positive stuff in the coming days. I try hard not to be wildly negative because I want my blog to be a fun place to be. But I also don't want to ignore the problems I see with the show either.

I wanted to love this, I really did.

I'm not mad that I was wrong. Hell, I had a billion theories going on. That said, I am irritated that there was no possible way of being able to figure out who this woman was. Red Herrings are intended to distract you from something in plain sight. Ochoa was a distraction for a woman we didn't know existed until the penultimate episode (And I still can't believe she was in the freakin' sneak peek for this episode)! We spent like 40% percent of our time in the finale establishing this character we don't know, and her relationship with a character she's never actually met. It's the finale, and I feel like we barely got to watch the team solve the case, and you know, PROFILE!

Also, am I to understand that all Tessa was doing to get information was catfishing Ochoa's email? How does that explain her knowing about Penelope tracking the signal in 18x07? Ochoa would not have had that information.

I enjoyed the season as a whole. I thought it was probably the strongest of the three, but this ending did sour it quite a bit for me. Once again, we're back to where we started. Every season finale has begun with an abduction, and every season finale has ended with the team being like, "Yay, we won kind of!" only to cut to Voit implying that whatever is happening isn't over. It's just gotten stale, and I would like to see the show make some bolder moves.

I also have not and can not buy into the sympathetic Voit angle that the show has tried to play into all season. Creating nuance is one thing, but It really bugs me how much they avoid Voit's misogyny and violence against women, as well as the sexual exploitation of JJ and Sydney. The show can't and won't address these parts of his character entirely because it's much harder to justify that kind of behavior.

Some positive thoughts on the episode:

I love JJ and Penelope very much, and I hope all of the BAU ladies get more time together next season.

Despite my qualms with the disciple reveal, I did like that Ochoa ends up just being a doctor (she's still a very bad one, but that's a conversation for another day).

Zach Gilford gives a good performance as always.

Luke Alvez is very smart and cute.

- lee duval's hair is so fucking terrible it's funny

- cyrus really nailing being a creep

- girl, why would you trust this guy? 😭

- that duct tape was barely on his mouth lol

- this would bave been better if the fucking criminal minds account didn't spoil the episode

- why is evan here again and talking too much

Hello friends 💖 watching the season finale!! S18 episode 10!!

Honestly i have enjoyed this season. There's been some silliness but voit is honestly just really well acted and i honestly cannot say i'm tired of him. Sue me.

The one thing tho is i wish they cast a younger actor to be young voit. Like just made some of that ginny and georgia/yellowjackets casting magic happen. Bc this actor does not full off being 20 years younger lmao

Okay who is this bar lady with cyrus?? Is he gonna murder her??
