So today the 15th, I was attending class and the teacher has us do skill evaluations.

Today we had to do mouth care, and lemme tell you real quick, I clammed up.

I was a bundle of nerves stepping up to the mannequin, and reciting my lines. Before I got to my first step, which was to provide a privacy curtain, my mind went absolutely blank.

I did my best though. I followed the motions. And lastly made it though this skill evaluations.

My mistake beforehand was that I did not study enough to get my routine down.

“*squints to hear you better* Whaaaaaat?” “I remember that... I HATED IT.” “A bath? No, that’s okay. I’m alright.” “No, I don’t want juice. I had some yesterday!” “What the hell am I supposed to do with this? Eat it?” “Oh, it’s good for me? Okay.”

Long story short, clinical week was intense, fun, sad, humorous, aggravating, and exhausting, but all in all, it was pretty rewarding and really reminds me of how much I want (and need) to go into healthcare. After my first week of the class, I was a little worried, but I really think that getting in there and getting real experience with real people was something I really needed. And it proved to me that healthcare is definitely the field I need to be in. Not that I really needed it to be proven to me... but it was a good reminder. Also, my main resident was so happy today when I did her nails, I even got her to laugh a little, and she told me that I’m a “good girl” and that she loves me. Even though she’s visually impaired and has dementia, so she probably doesn’t know who I am... it was a good way to end the week.

And I have a job interview on Thursday SO can I get a “hellllllllll yeahhhh” up in here?

Going scrub shopping later today! :D I'm more excited for buying scrubs than I am for actually working in healthcare... lol. It might be more that having scrubs make me feel like I'm actually in healthcare. Which I am! Also, 3 PCA jobs just opened up at the hospital and there are 3 at the other hospital and I'm literally dying because I want to apply to all of them SO BADLY and I can't until next week... I could get one job at a hospital, get another job at a nursing home, and I'd be so happy... Even if both are per diem or one is part time, I don't even care.
