We have 150+ amazing prompts to choose from, submitted by YOU, the Carry On fandom community, and we look forward to seeing what you talented writers and artists create for them!

Claiming works like this:

1. Have a look through the prompts lists HERE

2. Pick your first, second, and third choice of prompts you want to create something for!

3. Fill out THIS FORM with your contact info and prompt preferences! (This is the equivalent of signing up to participate/committing to create something for the fest.)

4. Wait (im)patiently to get your prompt assignment (hopefully your 1st choice, but potentially your 2nd or 3rd choice)!

Claiming closes Jan 25 at 9 pm EST

Prompt assignments will be sent out on FEB 1 by midnight EST

DETAILED CLAIMING INFO BELOW THE CUT

Anyone and everyone is welcome to join!

All you need is an AO3 account, since all the art and fics will be posted there anonymously. Please contact us if you need help with setting up AO3.

WHAT DOES CLAIMING A PROMPT MEAN?

Claiming a prompt means that you are signing up as a participant. You will tell us which prompts from the posted list you would want to create something for, and we will assign you one of your top three choices. Each prompt can be assigned to at most one writer and one artist, so no one else will be writing for the same prompt you are writing for, or creating art for the same prompt you are creating art for. You are “claiming” it as your own!

If you accept your prompt assignment, you are committing to creating a piece for that prompt, to completing the check-ins on time, and to having your piece created by the April 3rd deadline. You are also committing to keep your prompt assignment secret (although you are welcome to share non-spoilery snippets if you like, and to have beta readers as usual) until creators are revealed by us at the completion of the fest.

Of course, if something comes up and you are unable to finish the fest, that’s completely fine! Just let us know as soon as possible if that happens.

HOW DOES CLAIMING WORK?

Prompts will be awarded on a first come first served basis. When you submit your claiming form, we will ask for your top three preferences, in order. We will do our best to give you your first choice! If multiple people claim the same prompt as their first choice, then whoever submitted the claim first will get it, and others will get either their second or third choice.

Each prompt can be claimed once for fic and once for art.

If you finish your prompt and want to create another piece, you may claim an additional prompt (just email us to let us know). If you claim a prompt, but then feel unable to complete the work (life, we know!), please inform us as soon as possible, so that we can offer the prompt to someone else.

You can claim your own prompts, if you want.

If you are an artist and a writer, and you want to participate in the fest with both, you are welcome to start out by claiming one prompt for art and one prompt for fic (just fill out the form twice!). However, the art and fic prompts are assigned separately, so there is no guarantee that you will get the same prompt for both even if you list the same preferences.

Claiming closes on 25 January 2021 at 9 pm EST.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

All types of art are welcome, but you will need to upload it onto AO3. A photo of the piece works fine for things like fiber arts, for example. Art requirement is at least one completed piece.

All fics need to be original and cannot be part of a pre-existing series or a prequel/sequel to another fic. Minimum word count for writers is 1k, no maximum. We ask that multi-chapter fics be fully completed by the April 3 deadline.

We will create a collection on AO3 where you can post your work on your assigned date (details to follow).

I may be weird, scratch that we all KNOW I’m weird, but I feel like PB is actually daring me to mess shit up.

I know they aren’t really but we get a rattle, we find out we are getting little babies, they do drama, but nothing seriously crazy and I doubt they’d ever threaten the heir (to the crown or otherwise).

Me, however, all I see is potential for drama!

I mean fuck, just the cover art of a crown and a rattle created When Fairytales Break (only read if depression, adultery and being mean to Liam doesn’t bother you cause yea the muse is CRAZY!)

Imagine what kind of crazy shit I can do with an entire book?

I mean I made a mess of shit because of one chapter with the fling! Consequences of a Fling I let my muse go ape shit and things go off the rails and oh so crazy and a little dark and seriously that was one chapter with no consequences what would a happy go lucky book with little to no drama breed?

Watch out, I will be taking no prisoners if when I attack!
