Indulge in these delightful chocolate rolls made from flaky puff pastry filled with rich chocolate and cocoa goodness. They make a perfect treat for any occasion.
Ingredients: 1 package of puff pastry sheets. 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. 1/4 cup of cocoa powder. 1/4 cup of granulated sugar. 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, melted. 1 egg, beaten for egg wash. Powdered sugar for dusting optional.
Instructions: Adjust the oven temperature to 375F 190C and place parchment paper on a baking sheet. As directed on the package, thaw the puff pastry sheets. Combine the granulated sugar and cocoa powder in a small bowl. On a surface dusted with flour, roll out one puff pastry sheet to the shape of a rectangle. Melt the butter and generously brush the pastry sheet, ensuring a thin layer remains around the edges. Over the buttered pastry, evenly distribute the cocoa-sugar mixture. On top of the cocoa-sugar mixture, scatter the chocolate chips. Roll the pastry sheet tightly into a log shape, similar to a jellyroll, starting from one long edge. Once the baking sheet is ready, cut the rolled pastry into rounds that are one inch thick. Proceed with the second sheet of puff pastry in the same manner. For a glossy appearance, brush the tops of the pastry rounds with the beaten egg wash. The chocolate rolls should be baked for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are puffy and golden brown. Take them out of the oven and allow them to cool a little. If desired, dust with powdered sugar. Enjoy your delectable chocolate rolls while they're still warm!
