At the beginning of the meal Gísli asked if there was anything on the menu we absolutely wanted to try. Horse was my only answer. For our main courses, we had the cod head which is cooked in chicken stock and sugar kelp and horse tenderloin with carrots, potatoes, and butter sauce. Surprisingly, horse mainly tastes like beef, but there was something quite acidic about the dish I really enjoyed. Our last two courses were dessert. The first was skyr (an Icelandic cheese that closely resembles yogurt) with blue berry granita, whey granita, and oats and the second were classic Icelandic twisted doughnuts called kleinur with a caramelized whey dipping sauce. All in all, an amazing meal.
