If anyone bothered to ask Ghost who he was, he figured he'd just stare at them for a moment, and say three simple words.

He didn't mean to bite. Didn't mean to bare his teeth or snap at every outstretched hand. It wasn't in his nature—not really. He didn't want to be like this, he just didn't know how to be anything else.

After the dust settles in Chicago, Soap can’t seem to quiet his mind—and Ghost won’t let himself rest. Between warzones and whiskey, moments stolen in dimly lit bars and sterile hotel rooms, something between them starts to fracture. Or maybe it was never whole to begin with.

Ghost saved his life. Again.

And Soap wants to thank him.

With his hands.

And maybe his heart.

But Ghost is retreating, shutting down in the only way he knows how—by pushing Johnny away. And Soap? He keeps talking. Keeps reaching. Keeps hoping that if he just says the right thing, Ghost will look at him the way he used to.
