i wasn’t sure whether or not to make this post, because they haven’t released the code, but it’s been two days since i messaged them for an explanation and i’m not sure if they even frequent their blog anymore. that being said, i’m still extremely upset that this happened in the first place, so i’m going to just come right out with it:
iamthemelocked has a history of stealing code, and i discovered this because i found them in the process of stealing mine.
when i came across the issue, i messaged @shythemes asking for advice on how to handle the situation, and they told me that iamthemelocked has stolen from them in the past as well. the code that they’ve stolen can be seen on their static theme blog, tlstatics (here is a wayback machine screenshot): it looks extremely similar to my theme hot pink, and that’s because it is. it appears, from looking at the source code and scrolling down, that they were in the process of using my code as a base code and simply hadn’t removed my credit div yet. i would have given them the benefit of the doubt, but when i looked at the source code, i found this:
they replaced my credit with theirs, which makes it obvious what they were doing.
there are more screenshots comparing their edited code to mine, but it’s fairly obvious what was happening here, and i have messaged them about it but they have yet to reply nor do i expect them to anytime soon. you can take a look at their source code yourself and compare it to my code, but the evidence is obvious. because of this, i would really appreciate it if you didn’t support their themes or tried to get in contact with them for me so that i can discuss this with them privately. they haven’t been on their main blog in a month, so i’m not sure where else i can contact them, but if anyone knows where i can speak with them i would really appreciate it.
the only reason why i’m drawing public attention to this is because the stolen code is available for anyone to see on their static theme blog, which means anyone who clicks on a link in their static previews will see my stolen code in their face. it’s really upsetting, for obvious reasons, so i wanted to finally address it now that i know that this isn’t the first time they’ve stolen code so that everyone can see that they’ve been caught and that i won’t tolerate code theft, even if it hasn’t been released yet.
i really appreciate everyone who uses my themes while following my rules and who reads this, thank you. and to everyone else: please respect theme maker rules, especially if you’re a theme maker yourself. or at least don’t break our rules publicly where everyone can see them. that’s all we ask. thank you.
Once upon a time, stealing was punishable by death.
sassyxmajestic and hoodedlocksley:
Replacing HW in hollywhood’s theme with hoodedlocksley is stealing credit for a theme you did not make. Customisation of a theme does not make it yours.
It is against hollywhood’s rules. http://hollywhood.tumblr.com/themeage
It is WRONG. It is stealing. It makes you both thieves.
hoodedlocksley, being a thief for your queen should only be in character. When you have the same hollywhood theme for your own blog, it shows you know better. You deliberately replaced the theme credit when you gave the code to sassyxmajestic. That is horrid behaviour. You two need to fix this, apologise and straighten your act up. Plagiarism will not be tolerated on tumblr.
thexfairestxregal, you are tagged because you are linked on hoodedlocksley‘s blog as his “strictly single ship”. There is mention of a tumblr “bug” taking your blog away. We doubt that. We know enough people on here who run from url to url to recognise a fugitive when we see one. What did you do on your other blog? Plagirise as well?
ahhh fuck i had to delete that theme cuz i found out it was by jubileethemes
for those who don't know, they are a blatant code thief, with multiple reported incidents of copying code from others, stealing artwork, and harassing the people they have stolen from.
so if you see a theme by meancutie/softwarning/jubileethemes/seethes, please please please don't use it.
So, I know many theme-related blogs like to post things like this to raise awareness of code thieves: theme-makers who steal coding from other theme-makers without properly crediting them. Recently, I've been seeing a lot of reports of these code thieves, so I felt I should join the crusade and compile as many reports and thieves as I can from and with the help of my fellow theme-makers.
Click here to view the growing list of code thieves.
If you are a theme-maker or a follower and notice a theft, please contact me so that I may add it to the list. If you have a post explicitly regarding the theft, send that to me as well. If a theme-maker has been falsely accused, notify me so that I may remove them from the list.
(important: bullying is not encouraged at all. please just unfollow these people and refrain from using their themes).
