misc cody headcanons that have snuck into my writing:
he's a front sleeper! this guy sleeps on his tummy!!
he doesnt drink except for on shore leave, and even then he only drinks beer
he's sensitive to loud noise but is usually pretty good at not showing it. he's a little embarrassed about it
he speaks mando'a but feels like he sounds "rigid" or "textbook-y"
spreadsheets relax him. his brothers make fun of him for it
he doesnt have much of a temper and doesnt often get angry. when he does, he gets very cold and abrupt. he rarely yells.
he has a dry sense of humor. sometimes he jokes in such a deadpan that people think hes serious
he's very very good at compartmentalizing. everything. his feelings, thoughts, focus, even his speaking patterns. when he's in Marshal Commander mode, he's not making jokes, or worrying about his batchers/friends in other battalions, or thinking about clone rights, or even swearing or speaking mando'a. Marshal Commander Cody and ori'vod cody are functionally two separate people.
^ this is why anakin and ahsoka think he's boring - they've only ever met Marshal Commander Cody. if they saw cody out with the boyz on shore leave they'd hardly recognize him
^ also he gets really annoyed when he thinks someone else, especially clones under his command or fellow commanding officers, acting "unprofessional"
he's allergic to thinking about or reflecting on his feelings
he tends to express care via acts of service, like buzzing rex's hair for him, or quietly parallel-working together, like the hours and hours of boring classes back on kamino
i think he WAS originally named Kote, but it warped to Cody from how non-mando'a speaking clones said it. i also think he doesn't mind this! his name is whatever his brothers call him <3
^ i do think his batchers (other CCs) (imo Fox is from the same batch but thats just me) still call him Kote, half as a nickname, half bc they're proud to know mando'a, and a third half to reflect that they knew kote before he was cody
some of his batchers still call him "two-four" as a nickname
^ except wolffe, who says "twennyfour", which the others think is weird
he likes to sleep in. unfortunately, "sleeping in" to him is waking up at 0600 instead of 0430
hes a bit of a germaphobe. dont cough next to him, he'll smack you
when alpha-17 walks into the room he stands up straighter
all the CCs have a bit of a cain instinct towards each other. they would. well . CODY would never show it in a military setting, but back at the barracks, bly yawns while he's talking so cody puts him in a headlock
he doesnt like foods that are really sweet
he eats like a fucking vacuum (if he can)
