              ❛  so i guess there’s a lot for me to catch up on, huh?  ❜  murmured words of self-reproach accompany ones slight shift of gaze. on the rarest of occasions, minor guilt & the like do nestle & bud amidst our heroes usual pondering. communication, or lack thereof is but one of many of gray’s ever growing drawbacks. nevertheless, his presence is now accounted for, & the mage is on a mission to make up for time spent apart.

HEADCANONS: CHELIA & SHERRY.

i. A SISTER SHE NEVER HAD. when chelia was a very young child, she wasn’t aware of sherry’s trauma and what she suffered from deliora. she only vaguely remembered a little girl with cherry pink hair that was apparently a relative who needed a home. chelia’s mother kept the facts from her and her husband. she didn’t discuss the reasons for denying sherry refuge in their household. to ease her daughter’s heart, chelia’s mom would often spew lies about sherry’s situation, saying she would end up happier not living them and allude to sherry’s magic being problematic to bring into their household. chelia was rather saddened by this, because she would’ve loved another young person to grow up with–––an elder sister even. unfortunately, she was much too young to understand the dire situation sherry had been in. chelia’s mother would always dismiss her daughter and her husband crudely if they ever brought up sherry or her aunt. during present day, chelia still doesn’t know the absolute truth of their mother’s bad blood.

ii. GETTING CLOSER. it’s no surprise that sherry’s presence in lamia scale was a primary motivator for chelia to join. after losing her father and given her tense relationship with her mother, chelia hoped to find a means to reach out to the only other family member she knew of. she was thrilled when she found out sherry was still in fiore and living as a wizard. she aspired to be like her–––strong, and become a lamia scale mage as well. this allowed her to push herself even more during her schooling.

iii. BAD BLOOD. although she didn’t show it as much, chelia grew occasionally frustrated with sherry and her cold behavior toward her. chelia was naive, young, and didn’t understand why sherry did not embrace her warmly as family, as she hoped. chelia unconditionally loves sherry and she tries her best to open up to her. as chelia grew older, she learned a little bit more about sherry’s past, mostly through other lamia scale mages. she found out that sherry was orphaned at a young age due to a terrible devastation involving her hometown. she also learned from jura that sherry was horrible injured in a clash against a dark guild. he did not speak details of it to respect sherry’s privacy, but merely offered that as a small explanation of why sherry was away for her urgent care. this softens chelia, and allowed her to grow more patience and not be as upset with sherry for being closed off. chelia cares deeply for sherry and still hopes to someday fill the gaps of their kinship and revitalize their family. but she accepts that it won’t be easy and will take a lot of time–––and that’s okay.
