Happy September 1st! Just enjoying a bit of coffee and sun on this holiday weekend. I had to remove some of my pumpkins off their vines for lawn purposes, so now I’m trying to get them to finish ripening and curing. Celebrating some 60 degree weather with a cold brew kit: cold brew coffee, simple syrup, and a little half and half. Just add ice. I make our simple syrup with a mix of white and turbinado sugar, which is why it looks so dark. I always use some form of raw sugar in my coffee; anything else tastes too sweet. But for simple syrup I like a mix, because it’s easy to go overboard when adding it in, and straight turbinado can overwhelm the coffee profile.
