How long-lived is Cognita? Is Volo also long-lived?

PLA implies she's at least a few thousand years old and probably immortal. It's not clear why she is, but it's possible that extends to Volo as well.

Viral Pokerus au: Cognita

Well looks like we're not moving on to characters other than the wardens. I have rough draft of several of these written already. I considered turning her into a Lucario but decided she would stay human unlike most characters. I mostly mention this because turns out she turns into Lucario in the regular Pokerus au, guess Cognita just has Lucario vibes. It really is hard to choose something for her when the only Pokemon she is associated with are mythical/legendary Pokemon.

Cognita does not go to the festival, she was a sent a letter from Lucas inviting her, but she's not really interested. She doesn't often get visitors besides Volo and Enamorus and the occasional regular Pokemon, and she's fine with that, she's not usually big on crowds. Because of this, it takes a long time for her to notice anything is off.

She does notice it's a bit odd that none of her regular visitors have shown up, but she isn't that worried about it. When Volo does eventually show up, then she gets worried.

Into her camp enters a Shiny Gible. A Shiny Gible wearing Volo's hat and struggling to carry Volo's backpack, which is hard to balance on it's back without dragging it across the ground. Sure, they could just be any Gible (albeit a Shiny one) that happens to have his stuff. But it's demeanor, it's expression and it's body language just scream "Volo".

There are many legends of people turning into Pokemon but most are stories of humans being cursed by the gods for wrong doing. Cognita knows Volo has been up to something, her immediate thought is that Volo's new appearance is caused by a curse.

She's a bit rude to him, assuming he did something (well he has, but he wasn't cursed for it). Volo gestures in a sort of "wait! hold on!" kind of way and puts the backpack down and pulls a letter out of one of the pockets.

The letter explains the situation and what's been going on throughout Hisui. That a plague has been spreading across the land and turning humans into Pokemon. Cognita doesn't know what to make of this, none of the myths or prophecies mention anything quite like this. And she has no idea how to stop it.

She stays at the retreat until awhile later when Lucas shows up with Volo. Lucas wants advice for finding the plates because he believes it will help him contact Arceus to fix whatever is going on. He also mentions his mission to "Seek Out All Pokemon".

Cognita is happy to help Arceus's chosen one. She tells him what she knows of where the plates and several legendries can be found. She also tells him about Thundurus, Tornadus, and Landorus.

Lucas goes off on his quest. He gets those plates, he gets mythicals like Shaymin and Darkrai. He captures the Forces of Nature (well 3/4). And he comes back but he's sure that he doesn't have everything yet.

For capturing the other Forces of Nature, Enamorus reveals herself and challenges Lucas to find her and capture her next and she will give him the Fairy Plate when he succeeds. Lucas will go on to find her and catch her and get the plate.

There is only one plate left at this point and Volo says he knows where to find it. Volo tells Lucas to meet him at the top of Mount Coronet. You know what happens.

Cognita never caught Pokerus during the events of this au. So she never transforms. Not too long after Lucas gets the Fairy Plate the transformed will gain their original bodies back. Volo briefly appears in her retreat telling her what he had done (Cognita isn't really surprised) He says good bye and that he was never coming back, Cognita says goodbye as well.

Who knew being a soulless killing machine would present so many moral dilemmas. (Yes, that was sarcasm.)
