Random question, But If you could pick a song as an opening for your RWBY Remnants AU that wasn't made by Casey and Jeff Williams, what would it be? I think I would pick Devil town v1 by cavetown for my AU.
If I had to pick something from another artist, it'd definitely be something from Cold Kingdom. I love their music and there's lots of songs of theirs I could narrow down, but my choice would probably be The Light.
Speaking of Cold Kingdom specifically, it's a fun headcanon for me to imagine them as the "mainstay band" for RWBY: Remnants, in the same way Jeff and Casey Williams are the mainstay for the official RWBY. Their style of rock and the way they write their lyrics is very reminiscent of the "RWBY butt rock" style, but still sounds like its own distinct thing.
This goes way back to when I first listened to their album The Moon And The Fool for the first time. It was just after Volume 6 when division in the fandom was at an all-time high, and I myself was considering walking away from the fandom and RWBY entirely just from... how tiring it all was. Listening to this album immediately hooked me and after listening to the songs, it started inspiring new ideas in my head because of how well certain lyrics fit some RWBY characters.
This led me to drawing a visual playlist where I drew an illustration for every song in the album based on something in RWBY, and this was what would end up being the foundation for my RWBY: Remnants project. I am immensely grateful to Cold Kingdom and their music for inspiring me and reigniting my love in trying a RWBY project again, without whom I probably may have dropped the series and it would have all just been a bitter-tasting memory left by the toxic parts of the fandom.
That's why I think it's important to have these anchors to ground your love for something. Without them, you just end up stewing in all the bad parts and forgetting why you even loved something. You just end up being a bitter person whose only remaining identity is blindly dragging other people into a war conjured up in your own head, which is all too common in this funny fandom.
