i’m so tired of people calling characters with double barrel names by only their first half of the name. her name is not Lucy, it is Lucy Gray. idc if you think double barrel names are stupid, hard, or whatever you people say they are… you still need to respect them… especially if they’re cultural.

as a sorta kinda CODA* the way some people write louis using sign language in post-s4 fanfics is like 🧍 so painfully obvious they did absolutely no research beyond the bare minimum, if that, and didn’t consult any Deaf/HoH people, CODAs, or generally anyone who knows sign. it’s really annoying and honestly takes me out of a story when that happens. just do your research. it’s not hard!!! if you’re not willing to put in the research and effort into writing something properly, you’re not ready to write that thing.

* my dad is HoH and knows sign language. i know some of it, but no where near fluent. but i also haven’t interacted with the Deaf/HoH community since i was little so i’m definitely not as well versed as other CODAs, but enough to see the issues here.
