The lineart I did for a collab, I actually based it on a not-so-pretty drawing I did for inktober. This one looks much better.

Collaborative unit: Week 1
In this week Tyler Fox, a teacher of Human Centred Design and engineering at the University of Washington, came to work with us on the papers we had been reading over this term. For this, we had to develop two different projects that were focused on the paper Posthumanism and Design.
Day One.
This day our job consisted on working in groups to make a physical diagram for one prehension of a phone and our group decided to focus on the facial recognition that phones have nowadays. In order to show the functioning of it we used a box into which the user would have to introduce his face to be analysed by a mirror and then the sides of the box will open.
Face recognition box: there’s a mirror you have to look at it for the sides to open.
Our goal with this physical diagram was to display the need of validation of your own identity through your own device, while also reflecting on how when you get into the box, you get to see more things than what you observe in real life. This serves as a metaphor of how our phone keeps us connected. Furthermore, the mirror depicts the narcism surrounding the use we make of our phones.
Day Two.
This day we were given yeast as the material to explore and make designs out of it. This day our group did research about its properties and applications, and we were interested in the way not only yeast but how the rest of fungus reproduces. Specially we were interested on the way they librate spores to reproduce.
Day three.
Following our previous research we had to make a design of out it that tackled Posthumanism concepts. For this we explored different ideas but ended focusing in Transhumanism. In our speculative design, we proposed a near future in which yeast can reproduce through human bodies by using an electronic mechanism.
Sketch of the prototype we wanted to produce.
Basically, some heat sensors would detect the yeast temperature and will know when it’s ready to mate and a light located on the human body will come on to indicate so. Our approach consisted on putting all objects and beings at the same level and create a Posthuman relation between them.
Day four.
On the last day of the week we worked on creating the physical prototype. To accomplish so we visited the Creative Lab in the LCC to get help with the electrical objects we needed as well as its functioning. We ended up using light sensors instead of heat sensors, as they were harder to obtain in a short amount of time. One of our big discussion consisted on where to put the light that indicated the yeast is ready to mate. We analysed different ideas but we thought that it should be placed on the head since it’s the most visible part of our bodies.
Production of the prototype.
Final outcome.

Collaboration 1
March 26th 2019 Response 1 from IB.
This side of the textile response was on green jersey fabric and incorporated a single image from the length of printed fabric I had sent initially. The lines of stitches traced approximately some of the printed sillouhette lines and then extended over the whole surface to create a mass of lines which made patterns in threads of blue and orange.
The reverse of the piece of fabric was a second piece of jersey but this time pale grey. Here the stitched lines were in a red burgundy colour.
Collaboration proposal
January 29th 2019
Today I proposed a collaborative project by post, to two visual art trained friends CC and IB. I sent them both a length of fabric printed with small images of silhouettes of branches taken during my recent degree. I enclosed a note inviting them to respond but giving no deadline to respond by. I was drawn to the idea of this collaboration not centring around words, using the postal service so that time is built into the exchange and that there is no deadline for responding so extended reflection can take place.
This is some brief animation tests for the gaint robot which I manually made in After Effects since building rigs doesn’t seem to be working or doesn’t suit this model concept.

This Youtube channel series of ‘Movies with Mikey’ is an in depth film analysis/celebration video looking at good films and giving them the credit they deserve in a smart and comedic manner, Mikey is also a writer for 2K Games who make the popular ‘Borderlands’ games, anyways in this video he discuss’ the film John Wick, with the recent release of the second film I feel it will be useuful to mention this work. So the film may seem like a generic action film and in a way it can be seen as that but it’s so much more, I won’t repeat much from this video because Mikey does it so much better than I ever could. The film essentially is about a former elite hitman whose past comes back to haunt him, after losing his wife her final girt to him was a new puppy but not soon after a hitman squad led by the son of a former client comes and attacks him and kills the dog, John Wick goes on a murderous rampage to kill all who were involved going from essentially a former villain to an anti-villain who the audience now root for on a moral level because well they killed his dog after his wife died. The action itself is brutal and filmed extremely well as noted in this video at the age of around 50 the actor himself spent 5 months training in multiple martial arts and practising his own stunts involving driving and military runs with real equipment, which is why the action is so ‘real’ in regards to the movement and way the action happens as he knows from first hand what the loadouts of weaponary feel like. It goes back to the relation of Western actors having stunt doubles or the use of camera and editing to allow the real actors to not actually fight or do any kind of choreography. As mentioned in a Jackie Chan how to do action comedy video Eastern cinema combat feels more authentic because it’s acted properly with rehearsels and actual training and it really shows within this film.

This is a music video by the artist known as ‘Woodkid’ the piece is one of those products that has a narrative to the video, a trending concept that I feel is becoming more popular over the last few years including: Fallout Boy, Mystery Skulls etc. I show this one as example as it’s shot for the most part on a 2D plain cutting in some close ups and wide shots. The music itself is very powerful and really goes with this theme of this boy escaping whilst essentially charging with this fantasy army, much like the first music video ‘iron’.
CFVYs fight scene from the last chapter of RWBY Volume two: Breach in 60 fps. All rights belong to Rooster Teeth
RWBY ‘Coffee’ is a fight I constantly discuss as it is one of my favourite scenes from the series and the biggest influence on the ‘metal’ genre within the music mix. Basically it comes down to ‘Fox’ the character on the left sgemenrt as he hastily spins and punches to the fast pace ‘Caffiene’ soundtrack, not much else to dicuss on this one that I haven’t said already.
