#7 - Collapse List by Novo Amor
whenever i listen to this album, it gives me the feeling of sitting in a quiet living room and reflecting on all that has happened in my life. novo amor had undergone this reflection, and came to the conclusion that he needed to face some significant changes in order to improve his mental state.
the album begins with him facing boredom in regard to his present situation; "i'm waiting on my dreams to come and get me", he sings in first place. this persistent sentiment leads him to realize that he needs to have a sort of reinvention in order to feel reinvigorated. after moving to the countryside and building the studio in which the album was recorded, he begins to settle into his new surroundings and learns to make peace with the time lost trying to love his previous environment. in ornaments, the lyric "i'm fine with growing out of who i am" perfectly encapsulates the growth he attained over the course of the album.
sonically, this album is a folk project heavily built around acoustic guitars, pianos, and strings, and also features a couple of electric guitar solos on same day, same face and co-pathetic. while it is not bereft of any upbeat tracks, i find it to be a very calming and peaceful album to listen to while reflecting on the place where my life has landed so far.
