Money makes the world go 'round
I have been told by the rabbi I don't have to contribute financially to the shul. I'm not a member. But being in Christian churches for so long with a collection plate that goes around every week I can't help but feel incredible guilt not making the equivalent payment to the shul. There are lots of folks out there far worse off than me. I make good money. But I'm the bread winner for my house and we just bought a new car so my husband can find more work. We have a large number of medical bills for my oldest daughter. BIG FAT CLARIFICATION HERE: I'm not asking for money. Just giving background. But does anyone else feel that if they can't contribute financially to the shul that they shouldn't participate in things like the kiddush lunch, Torah study, etc? Should I even be attending services?
They never preach the whole thing, only the same handful of “nice” verses over and over again.
Religion’s demand for money is reason enough to conclude they have no connection to any deity. A true religion would be an organization of divine aegis.
