I created the fresh flower petals in ‘Oasis Overload’ using creamy dollops of lush paint to produce this bright and happy botanical painting. It has beautiful warm earthy tones with contrasting deep sea blue green colours on a highly textured surface to add dimension to the artwork. The expressive individual brushstrokes bring it to life! Oasis Overload was inspired by the soft earthy toned sand at the beaches and colours of the ocean on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. I spend a lot of time at the beaches along this coastline where I sketch and photograph the shapes and colours of nature. .
