Black and orange bumble bee on the orange buddleia. The bees clearly live this shrub as each flower was occupied with a different bee. Fat ones, thin ones, big and small, honey bees and bumble bees, orange, yellow, brown and black. I don’t think that I’ve seen so many varieties on one plant. #bees #gardening #gardeninspirations #colourstudies #inspiringnature #nature #naturalecosystem https://www.instagram.com/p/CA8bPkCp0ro/?igshid=1oz9b2ofv8ier
This is the result of not mowing the lawn... brilliant starlets of bright yellow scattered by buttercups interspersed with the deep purple self-heal neatly framed on a backdrop of mixed grasses. Not a weed in sight!! #lovenature #natureinspiration #colourstudies #colourcombinations #naturelover https://www.instagram.com/p/CA5ajWOJ0tk/?igshid=1cyh590bk332p
Welsh poppies in the vegetable garden. They are so full of grace and elegance. They are like little sunshine traps glowing more brilliantly for having been exposed to the light. Fascinating swirls and curls in their design that can only be truly seen in the photograph or with a magnifying glass when you can really see the intricate details up close. Yet more #designinspirations and #colourstudies. I will be adding these to my “designs to be developed” folder for my new project. Something to be revealed soon. 😀 Of course the #bees will love them too so they will stay until we can collect their seeds and grow more next year. #welshpoppies #welshpoppy #beefood #vegetablegardening #gardeninspirations https://www.instagram.com/p/CAZ-qJLJxzn/?igshid=1bjxis43czqhc
When in lockdown it’s clearly time to sort out those bags of craft items that have been lurking in the back of the cupboard for a million years. I had Two large bin bags of carpet yarn. Not just any old carpet yarn but a tangled mass of short ends that were clearly the remnants of carpet projects that were made on a #carpetloom I had years ago. Chaos into order I’ve now crocheted half of it into a wildly colourful rug. What has been particularly lovely is working with the different colours and seeing how colours can be implied just by placing two contrasting tones next to each other. Pinky red and turquoise blue imply lilac just because the eye mixes the tones even though the colour is not actually there. Grey and orange imply olivey green. #fascinating #colourstudies #creativecrafts https://www.instagram.com/p/B_hj3iRp9S_/?igshid=y2t4n98a7xyr
