Eighth Avenue and Columbus Circle, 1925. New York Board of Transportation via The New York Historical.
The Cosmopolitan Theatre was originally built as Miner’s Theatre in 1900 and was purchased by William Randolph Hearst who renamed it the Cosmopolitan after his movie production company. The theater was demolished in 1954. This whole stretch gave way to what became the Time Warner Center and later the Deutsch Banke Center.
