What is the School of Life?
The world sometimes isn’t the wonderful and amazing journey we were told of when we were young children. There was no extension of the “happy ending” we all read in stories about fictional worlds and adventures. The real world is filled with constant challenges both mental and physical, never-ending and never relentless in its purist.
The world isn’t meant to be an easy thing to understand, to manage your own emotions as well as understand the emotions of those around you. Even if they taunt, yell, and ridicule you. The endless cycles of happiness, depression, fear, anxiety and aggressive. It can all be extremely daunting and over whelming.
Realizing the loneliness you feel in everyday life, or the confusion of purpose and meaning, these are the important questions we face alone.
The questions we are too scared to ask our friends, peers, and family due to the doubt, shame, and criticism we may face when asking these questions.
Making sense of everything, by yourself, for yourself, is difficult. It’s increasingly hard to create a realistic yet understanding image of yourself and the world without self-loathing and fear invading our heads.
So what is The School of Life, and how does this relate to me and more importantly my development?
The School of Life is a Youtube channel dedicated to developing emotional intelligence through relatable understandable videos based around the questions we’re never taught enough about at regular school or college: How can relationships go well? What is meaningful work? How can love last? How can one find calm? What has gone wrong (and right) with capitalism? By using psychology, philosophy, and culture to every day life, they help provide comfort to the confusion of regular life.
Some of their videos that really helped me includes...
The Importance of an Unhappy Adolescence
The Dangers of Thinking Too Much; And Thinking Too Little
Overcoming Bad Inner Voices
Why We Feel Lonely and Odd
Why We’re Fated to be Lonely
If you are facing some difficulty in your life with any of these questions or more.
Please check their channel out, they provide an amazing source of comfort through both science and emotional understanding that help individuals like ourselves understand the world and most importantly ourselves. They have a range of different videos ranging from depression, loneliness, attraction, sex, family, and relationships.
With relaxing content, enjoyable visuals, and manageable watching time. This channel has helped me through my personal struggles, and I’m hoping that you can find some sort of condolence through their videos.
Now The School of Life isn’t perfect, (as mentioned in this video) (and this Reddit column)
However more, I still find their videos enjoyable enough to help me come out depressed state and start working towards something productive.
This is my personal opinion, but, please do give it a shot and see what you think.
