To contrast how previews used to come out about a week before a book's release, BOOM now likes to release previews before a book's first order cutoff, which makes some sense as it gives more incentive to preorder a book by showing off some of the interiors.

The problem though is that this means previews end up released over a month early, sometimes before the previous issue is released, and that's how we sometimes get major spoilers like uhhhh VR Troopers #4's previews:

oh look it's Ryan's mom she's here now! Reheating Ranger Slayer's nachos a bit in that design but I love angsty troubled moms so I'll let it slide for now.

...like at the very least I think they should have taken out the dialogue for this, like they did for #3's previews. This is such a huge twist that's being revealed before #3 is out??????? (and technically before #2 as well, since that issue has been another victim of the Digital Copy Purge)

Next on our collection of post-Darkest Hour, pre-Power Rangers Prime one-shots, it's a crossover I don't think anyone was expecting......MMPR and Usagi Yojimbo?? The samurai rabbit I thought was a TMNT character?? Sure! This will be my first major exposure to Usagi Yojimbo, so I might miss any major references to his story, but regardless, I'm looking forward to this. Especially with the art, as you'll see in a second.

(And yes, get your "they should be doing this crossover with Power Rangers Samurai, not MMPR" comments out now.)

= And as per tradition, the opening shot of the MMPRs in every MMPR crossover book - them fighting a random monster! It's a good way to establish the team for newbies and I'm sure it's fun to come up with monsters for them to fight, but at this point it really does feel like checking off a list.

= (and for those wondering, a boar specifically is an uncastrated male pig. You're welcome!)

= hoo boy speaking of Ryan traditions, it's time for Jason being a whiny asshole to his team for not doing exactly what he wants. While I thought his storyline took up too much of Darkest Hour, at the very least he didn't have this characterization

= Though all seriousness, I supposed I understand what's going to happen here - it's most likely not a coincidence that Jason is getting fed up with his team and Usagi talks about the benefits of being a solitary warrior in the scene prior - but it is a little funny to me that we might be doing the "is being a loner better???" with Jason and not.......Tommy? The well-established loner? I guess in fairness Tommy has a gf and Jason doesn't. loserrrrrr
