So I Just Read This

On the recommendation of my comics teacher (yes, I take a comics class) I just read Frank Miller'sThe Dark Knight Returns.

And my head exploded. I had no idea that a fucking Batman comic could be that fucking good.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I've always liked superhero comics, but I liked them because I'm a sucker for cheesy adventure plots and heroics, and also for the nostalgia factor in Green Arrow and Captain America, who I spent most of my childhood pretending to be.

But this comic. Jesus, this comic. It's super well-drawn and super well-written (even if the commentary on the media and 80's politics and the Cold War is not very subtle, to say the least). It drew me in and made me suspend all disbelief while I was reading it, and had a truly disturbing Joker. And Robin is a girl! You have no idea how thrilling that is.

Brb, got to go put insets that look like TV screens into all my comics.
