Commander Lexa and captive Regina.
Regina fought the restraints, certain that only death awaited her if the fabled Commander got ahold of her. If she could just escape while only that one girl was guarding the door, then she might have a chance at saving her life and returning home. Before leaving, she had left Emma in charge, which might have been a mistake. While Emma had leadership skills, she was also hotheaded and incapable of long-term strategy formation. The group needed her, and she had been captured.
“You, girl,” she called. The dark-haired girl turned to stare impassively at her. “If you help me escape, I can promise you safety and protection.”
When the girl said nothing in response, Regina scowled and continued struggling. As soon as one hand was nearly free, the girl came closer and secured her bonds once more. Regina lunged up at her, but the girl easily dodged her attack and stepped back.
“Your people are not welcome here.”
“We have nowhere else to go,” Regina snapped. She can’t explain that she cursed her people to this hellish realm or that magic doesn’t exist here, so she can’t curse them back. They are stuck in this land, and no amount of fighting or demanding will change that. “Either let me return to my people, or condemn them to death as soon as your Commander kills me.”
“That will not happen.” The girl snagged her chin and yanked her face upward. Their mouths met with furious determination. “There are other plans for you. We do not desire war with your people, but blood demands blood.”
Regina swallowed hard as the girl pushed her back against the ground. “I will not die for your satisfaction.”
“I have no desire for your death. To avoid a war, we must join our bloods. Then your loss is our loss, and we are equal.”
The girl pressed their bodies together and kissed her again. Realizing that this unassuming girl must actually be the Commander and understanding that this was perhaps the best way to avoid conflict, Regina submitted to the contact.
