Hi, I like Jeankasa and all but do you think Jean still has a crush on Mikasa? Even after 4 years? So far we haven't seen any indication of this, so it's pretty much all speculation but I wanna know your opinion.

The thing is, I never thought Jean had just a crush on Mikasa. Yes, the first time he met her he crushed on her really hard. But before that, I believe with every atom in my body he loved her and still does; I believe his crush developed into love. What evidence do I have that he’s still in love? Jean’s personality and nothing else; however, neither do I have evidence to the contrary.  

We have seen nothing about anything but the war and the titans after 4 years. The ex 104 trainees just arrived after the timeskip, Mikasa and Jean are dealing with different issues, so I can’t point any panel, and I doubt we’ll have a panel, anyway.

Until the last arch Jean showed more than once his interest in Mikasa, and yet the fandom refuses to see it. Why would that be just a crush? Allow me to explain why love instead of crush is so important to me, and to my opinion on Jeankasa.

Crush, noun (ATTRACTION): [ C ] infml a strong but temporary attraction for someone

In the same line of thinking, the fandom uses crush as a synonym of infatuation.

Infatuation, noun [ C or U ]: strong but not usually lasting feelings of love or attraction

If you’re still here, are you in the mood for a non-necessary explanation?

“Temporary” and “not lasting” is the main point in the eternal debate about Jean’s feelings and my take on the matter. The misinterpretation of Jean’s character is one of the biggest tragedies in this fandom; his parents didn’t die an abhorrent death —they’re probably alive—, he wanted to join the Military Police, he fought Eren, he seems cocky and dramatic, he told her she has beautiful hair… Then, we have Mikasa —another misunderstood character—, with her love for Eren and Armin, her “I have no heart or time to spare” or her “I’m stronger than all of you” discourses, her coldness, and deadpan expression… Two imperfect people in a fucked up world. And because we don’t have misfortunes enough, the bond “cursed” Mikasa and now she’s a “soulmate”, while Jean’s well, Jean…*deep sigh*

A big proportion of the fandom started to ignore his feelings, he’s jealous of Eren, he has screamed in despair thinking something bad could happen to her, he saved her (he would have saved anyone because we’re talking about Jean, however, in that scene, the fear on his face is for Mikasa). Non-canon but official material gives me the reason too —if you want to consider the OVA—, and I’m not just talking about Jean drawing Mikasa’s face, I’m talking about him admiring her.

Another reason I don’t like the “infatuation hypothesis” is the nature of that feeling, “an infatuated Jean exaggerating Mikasa’s abilities and attributes while ignoring her bad traits”. That’s not Jean. Until proved wrong, the manga shows a too honest for his own good Jean, calling her wrongs when he needs too. Yes, we have from little to next to nothing information, but tell me when we have had a lot of details about emotions and personal lives in SnK. 

Sorry, but it has to mean something. No author would give you over and over information about it if it’s not somehow relevant. Jeankasa will not solve the mystery behind SnK, granted, but it’s there for a reason. Maybe with no other purpose to tell us she can be loved, that she can have a future without Eren and Armin, and yes that future can disappear in the blink of an eye, and yes, it doesn’t have to be Jean. But it could be Jean. Isayama was going to kill him, but he didn’t… not yet. Maybe, it’s because Jean’s growing into a magnificent leader and the feelings that make him human are an important platform for the construction of his own identity. 

If Jean has a crush, it’s logical to think his feelings are over because they never were real, to begin with.

Why can’t he be in love with Mikasa? Why can’t those be strong feelings? Jean has known Mikasa since they were kids, he’s attracted to her appearance, that’s canon and important for any kind of romantic relationship even if they don’t have a relationship (yet). Over the years I’ve read a lot of arguments about Jeankasa, since “Mikasa can only love Eren”, to “Jean just like her hair and looks” and “Jean was curious about her heritage and looks” *add another big sigh*. What bothers me is that they: a) consider him so shallow, and b) assume that Mikasa can’t be an object of love if it’s not Eren or Armin.

So, no I don’t think Jean still has a crush on her, I believe he’s in love with Mikasa. All the “I ship them” fingers are pointing at me, I know, that’s the reason you asked me and the reason I’m talking way too much about this. No, I don’t have evidence to support my hypothesis besides the previous chapters with Jean showing his feelings pretty openly, the chapters about Jean’s development, and every second of Mikasa’s perfection. Jean can give her the life she dreams, Jean can make her happy. Jean, Isayama, and I know it ;)

Mikasa Ackerman, woman worth a hundred soldiers, realizes that she really admires Levi and wants to impress him.

So, do you think a Grim Reminder 2.0 is possible? To me it seems dumb because if Willy is already trying to make Paradis seem like the worse of people why would they prove him right? They would make the while world hate them even more and wouldn't accomplish anything but more war and death.

Willy’s plan is suspicious indeed, as I said in the previous ask I answered.

As for a “Grim Reminder 2.0″, I’m gonna be honest. I hate that expression because of the amount of times I’ve seen it. I don’t expect Armin to just attack the audience of the play or anything, but it seems like Eren being there and things starting to set off makes it more likely, but I doubt it will be the way everyone is imagining it. So no, I wouldn’t call it that, but something of similar context is definitely about to happen judging from the way things are going.

I don't actively ship romantic eruri but I can't deny their bond is probably the strongest Levi had. Also I'm glad you love rivamika as well, multishipping is the best tbh

heyy. rivamika was the first pairing that got my attention when i started watching snk, i don’t really know why. probably bc they were the strongest characters lol. levi is my favorite snk character so i like to explore his bonds. i even enjoy some levihan fanart sometimes haha multishipping is the thing, i totally agree

Thanks! I’ve always drawn I think, but I was more about thinking of drawing than actually drawing, and then quitting when I actually felt interested lolI’ve been drawing for around 4 years now (a record free me) but I drew a lot back in 2004 and then from 2006 to 2007, then for like a month in 2009 and another one in 2011 (lol), so I didn’t start from zero c:
