Commerce ISD General Meeting

the Commerce ISD will hold a general meeting june 18 at 6pm in commerce city hall . the board is expected to take up all issues related to the 2018-2019 acedemic year as well as a few comnunity proposal.

Reading List Update

I finished reading The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Book One: The Amulet of Samarkand today. I gave it a 4 star rating on Goodreads, but I did not leave a review. There are more people out there better qualified than me to give a review. What I will say, however ,is that I absolutely loved Jonathan Stroud's narration! Uncommon descriptive words such as "grotty" and verbs like "trundled" really captured my attention. I have a rather large list of words in my word journal now that I need to look up and add definition to.

For the record, however, I should say that this book of only 462 pages should not have taken me 5 days to read! Without constant interruptions, it should have taken me at most two days. -Sighs.- Such is the life of a mother and a housewife.

Now, on to yet another book I rented from the college library: Howl's Moving Castle. While I am eager to continue the Bartimaeus trilogy, I think I need to read all the other books I checked out first. From the Gee library, I have rented The Bartimaeus Trilogy - Book 1: The Amulet of Samarkand, Howl's Moving Castle, and American Gods. We returned to the public library Tuesday and got a family library card. There, I checked out The Ocean at the End of the Lane and The Moon Sisters, both of which I am also eager to read. I have heard nothing but good reviews for Neil Gaiman's newest book (and for "American Gods", one of his older novels) and I got a preview of The Moon Sisters and was excited to read more, but I couldn't purchase it.

Thus far, I'm loving having two libraries! Unfortunately, neither of them have Kelley Armstrong or very much Neil Gaiman. In fact, between the two libraries, they only have 4 Neil Gaiman books. Strange. Oh, and no George R.R. Martin at the public library. Kinda sad.

In 2014 I have already listened to Ben Kweller more than I did in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013 combined. I don't know what it is, but this song is awesome.
