Y'all... Wtf even are scambots anymore- like, anyone else suddenly getting an influx of "friend" bots looking for friendships and asking personal questions with zero boundaries (and apparently can get quite pushy)?

why are there so many commission bots?

I had three of those copy and paste “Wow this is such wonderful artwork would you dm me ?” On one of my posts I always just block them but surely I can report them right?

Okay uh Tumblr chat, I know we used to have a general rule of thumb that, to detect scams, real commissioners DM you first instead of asking for a DM, but I think we have to be on the lookout in this coming period.

I just received a DM from a "new follower" asking for commissions. They gave a few of my posts a like and then went in my inboxes, but their profile is very obviously a bot. They only have one post made just a couple hours ago, have a normal "first name" on their profile, are spamming likes to other artists in a very short span of time, and followed a bunch of people in that short space too. All in all a very generic scam bot.

Idk if this has been going on before, but I felt to warn you all now to be extra cautious!

No, I don’t. I don’t have PayPal. I don’t do commissions on Tumblr at all. No, I’m not open for commissions. No I won’t DM you. No, I don’t draw IRL pets or portraits. No I don’t have a dime to my name why are you even trying lol.
