Okay so, cute idea I just had that totally wasn't influenced by the kitten pictures I've recently reblogged.
Claire comes home with a small kitten in her bag. Like, the little guy is probably barely five weeks old, still stumbling as he walks, is solid black and fluffy, and screams. A lot. Claire couldn't just leave him and mama cat was nowhere to be found, so she coaxes the little guy to her and takes him home.
Court is not thrilled. Cats are a big commitment and he wasn't really a fan of them anyway, but he sees how happy the kitten makes Claire and he lets her keep it. She gives the little guy his old code name, Six.
Well, neither of them expect Six to warm up to Court, especially when the little guy hissed and spat at him something awful the first few nights. After the first two weeks, Court wakes up four little paws walking on him. Because Six is a solid black kitten, Court can hardly make out the silhouette of the cat currently standing on his chest. Really, all he can see are two big golden eyes staring at him. "Mrooooow!"
"What do you want?" He asks the kitten.
"Mrow!" The kitten exclaims.
"Really? I thought Claire fed you before she went to bed?"
"Mrow!" The kitten tucks its paws under himself, curling his tail against his body.
Court huffs. "Oh, okay so I guess we're doing this now."
Little Six starts purring. Court won't admit it out loud, but he thinks the little guy is actually cute.
Claire wakes up later to find Six curled up on Court's chest, both of whom are out like a light. She snaps a picture to commemorate the moment the infamous killer of men, The Gray Man, becomes a cat dad. She's 100% telling uncle Ryland all about it in the morning.
(And Ryland will tell Colt, of course.)
