Common Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina)

This is a terrestrial animal but they live in a variety of habitats, such as forests, fields, and marshy areas.

If you look at it closely, you can tell it’s a land-based creature by its claws on its feet?. They’re for digging and climbing.

It actually looks like the Spotted Box Turtle from the pattern on its shell.

I found this one stuck under my fence. It blended in with the dead magnolia leaves so it took me a sec to recognize the pattern of its shell. I took it in the direction it was going to make sure it wouldn’t get stuck again.
