I don't know how useful this is, but I see some particular errors repeated in fanfiction and figured some one might benefit from this?
so here's a few common mistakes i see people make in English
peak vs. peek vs. pique
peak is the tip or highest point of something
peek is to take a look at something
pique is to provoke something
so it'll be to pique one's interest, not peek/peak
choked vs chocked
chocks are these things
so the verb chock/chocked is often used to mean something wedged in between two things
choke is to obstruct something
eg: he choked on an apple
hair is collective noun
collective nouns in English are treated as a singular object
so you don't use the word "hairs"
so it will be the hair on his neck rose, instead of hairs on his neck
on the same line, you don't refer to hair as them, you refer to hair as it
so it will be, their hair was messy, and they ran their hand through it, not them
complement vs. compliment
to complement something, is to complete something, or go well with it
eg: the color of her top complemented her eyes
to compliment something/someone is to say something nice
eg: he blushed when she complimented his art
hope this helps :)
