Male and female Common stonechat, Saxicola torquatus The birds in the family Muscicapidae are called Old World flycatchers in English. As the name suggests, they have a wonderful ability to soar over small insects in flight, and then skillfully nip down (sometimes it doesn't work...). It is also a pleasure to join the local people who watch over the birds and learn about the nature and history of the region.
ノビタキの雌雄 ヒタキ科を英語でOld World flycatcherと呼ぶそうだが、その名の通り、素晴らしい上昇力で飛んでいる小昆虫めがけて飛び上がり、上手にくわえて下りてくる（うまくいかないこともある）。 見守る地元の方々とご一緒して、土地の自然や歴史について教えていただくのも、また楽しい時間。
