The sheet of metal in the pile of detritus that Elisabeth was standing on graunched and moved suddenly. A gurgling groan emanated from the small puddle in the garbage tidemark on the sidewalk. She froze. A wizened hand, its flesh dry, despite the sheen of dirty water dripping off it reached up, clawing for purchase. Elisabeth could hear Cait punching something far behind her but couldn't move, mesmerised by the feral ghoul that heaved its legless torso out from under the old advertisement sign.
Poor thing. Did you leave your legs under all that the crap or on some battlefield somewhere, two centuries ago? You know I'm here. What are you thinking? Are you in pain? It looks painful, your skin, those pale eyes… can they see at all? Can you feel pain, still? Do you know you're trying to eat me? Sorry, I'm not on the menu. Who were you? Are you still in there?
"What the feck're you doin'?"
Cait's shout jolted her back to herself just in time to pull her foot away from its grasp.
"I… I didn't want to kill…him."
"Look, love, we talked about this before. It ain't got a thought past chompin' on yer dainty toes an' if the thing's in pain, it'd be a mercy to end it, yeah? Just do it already. It's gettin' dark an' we need to move. D'ye hear me?"
Elisabeth looked down at the pathetic, withered, incomplete thing. "Rest easy, stumpy," she whispered as she cracked its head open like an egg.

As she grows closer to Sole, Cait starts to realize certain personality types she’ll morph to like, depending on what Sole is like.
If Sole is cute, and small, she magnetise to them, protecting them, and growing fond of their cutesy ways.
If Sole is tough and big, she’ll follow in their footsteps, trying to almost copy them, and try to assert herself more.
Cait tries to be her best self for Sole, and be a better person in general.
In conclusion, Cait is a bean.
