Is that Cliff from Cheers?
Sitting at the park reading a book about journaling and these questions are listed. When creating an OC wether it be an OC in a fic or a new character in a whole new universe, consider these things about them. Get to know them before placing them into events. Taking that further, consider writing a journal from the point of view of the character to see: 1. What aspects of your personality are shining through to that character. Where do you connect with them? 2. How will this character interact with others? 3. What makes them tick? Why do they act how they act?

Win a Copy of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Marathon Training
I recently read The Compete Idiot's Guide to Marathon Training, by David Levine and Paula Petrella. David and Paula are both experienced marathoners and writers. David is a certified running and triathlon coach and has coached marathoners for several years for the LA Roadrunners.
As with the other books in the "Complete Idiot" series, this book doesn't make any assumptions about the reader's knowledge of running or marathons. It's designed to take you from the coach potato to marathon finisher in 3-6 months.
The Compete Idiot's Guide to Marathon Training covers all the essential information that a first-time marathoner needs to know to get to the finish line, including how to:
Choose a Marathon
Set a Race Goal
Select Running Gear
Design a Training Plan
Develop a Nutrition Plan
Prepare for Race Day
Manage Your Race
Prevent and Treat Injuries
Recover after the Marathon
The Compete Idiot's Guide to Marathon Training is well-organized and easy to read. It's a good choice for a beginning runner who aspires to run a marathon.
