It’s actually really hard to sum up, because he’s such a complex character. First of all… I didn’t expect him to be this… chill? Or at least to appear so unbothered by things that should absolutely shatter a person. (Unless he’s just incredibly good at pretending, which is very possible given his trauma.)
The fact that he was literally a victim of sexual violence, that he’s confirmed to be asexual, and still had to watch Vox and Valentino having sex right in front of him… I genuinely thought that would break him way more. But nope - the man just sat there like he couldn’t care less XDD
And later he was having fun while tied to a chair. Like… sir?? Hello???
So yeah, I’m honestly impressed by how insanely adaptive Alastor is. His ability to mask, to hide what’s happening inside, to adjust to any situation… it’s both fascinating and heartbreaking. He’s incredibly hard to read, incredibly hard to reach emotionally, and not easy to understand from a psychological standpoint.
And I’ll admit this too: at first I wasn’t convinced that his “clever plan” to free himself from the deal was actually that smart.
But I take that back now - the man is one of the most cunning, strategic, and intelligent characters in the whole series. Which… does not make things any easier for him in a therapeutic sense. His character arc is going to be one of the hardest to untangle.
The scene where we again see real fear in his eyes, when he brushes so close to death at the end - that hit hard. Alastor is someone who seems in control of everything, except his own emotions and mental state. Outwardly he looks stable, but if you pay attention, he’s honestly one of the most traumatized characters in the entire universe.
I love this man. He’s a psychological maze in a fancy suit.
