Complex Simplicity is one of my favorite stories, the way you write Adrian and his inner thoughts and feelings is just beautiful. I'm really excited that you're doing a part 2!

hfjdjdkdjsj im not nearly close to being done (it's gonna be a long one strap in) but here's a little snippet for snippet saturday :)

Adrian was foolish. He had been through enough to know the dangers of letting people in, the misplaced trust, the inevitable betrayal, the nights he would spend quietly crying in the mocking emptiness of his apartment, but he kept allowing people access to his heart, trusting — although foolishly — that they would be the one to finally remedy the past, that they would be the one to cradle his heart in their hands. It was foolish, he knew, but he had no choice but to trust in the hope that they wouldn’t crush his heart into hundreds of thousands of glass shards that cut and scraped and scratched at his soul.

Even more, he had to trust that when they did crush his heart — when they clutched it tightly in their traitorous palm, when they squeezed it until it burst, when the unrelenting pressure of their grip became too much to bear — he had to trust that they wouldn’t crush it beyond repair; he had to pray that his heart wouldn’t shatter into hundreds of thousands of pieces, too small for him to repair. And yet, his trust was useless, because as much as he yearned for them to care for him gently, it was ultimately him who was handing them his heart; he was the one encouraging them to squeeze, tighter and tighter and tighter, until it burst into hundreds of thousands of pieces he wouldn’t be able to repair. But Adrian was foolish, and so he repeated the tortuous cycle, over and over and over again.
