I didn't do too well at the concerto competition 😞

I slipped up on a few part and freaked out, even though I was totally calm beforehand... I'm pretty upset, but my Maestro said I did pretty well in most of it. It was good experience playing it memorized, so I guess that's good. Next week I have a scholarship audition at Purdue and I get to use my music so that should go better!

Super nervous for my concerto competition sunday!!!

I'm playing the Mozart bassoon concerto, and I have the piece down completely with music, and I have it all memorized, but I'm having trouble putting it all together. There's two spots that always trip me up and they throw me off a ton. I get SUPER nervous too and mess up parts that I usually do fine. Does anyone have any advice? I don't want to sound terrible at the competition, I'm so anxious!!

turns out that prelims for the concerto competition this year are jan. 30.  last year they were march 10.  :] :] :] :] :] :] :] 

the pieces don’t have to be memorized, but they still have to be perfect. by. jan. 30.  

and we need an accompanist basically now for jan 30.  greeeaaaat.

THEY DIDN’T EVEN PUT UP THIS YEAR’S INFORMATION UNTIL A WEEK AGO, AND THEY GIVE US AT LEAST TWO LESS MONTHS TO PREPARE THAN LAST YEAR????/

last year all of the information was up before thanksgiving.  they were a month late putting info on the site.  We had from Nov. 24 - March 10 to prepare.  Now this year we have from Dec. 23 - Jan. 30???????/  i have a month to get something performance ready.  :,] :,] :,] :,]

Every summer, SDYS’ International Youth Symphony brings musicians from across the globe together with the youth symphony’s most advanced musicians for a two-week intensive music experience.
