While I will not say that undertaking such acts with a moirail never happens, I would certainly never condone it. Moiraillegiance is a platonic relationship and even considering genetic contribution with one is extremely taboo! That said, survival tends to be a rather important thing. I will go on record as saying that Toxie would NEVER condone lying to our great and powerful Condescension or her very deadly drones, I have heard rumors that, on occasion, some pale couples would pretend to be flushed when their time comes to contribute to society. Such matches are incredibly ineffective inside the Mother Grub, but the drones would not know that. And if I were to speak with one of these traitors on a public board, after scolding them thoroughly, I would also advise them that broaching such subjects with a Moirail is incredibly delicate business due to the taboo nature, so doing so should be handled gently. When the drone arrives, I trust you will have all of your affairs in order, and not be considering lying about your partner’s quadrant and making such information known on a public board, for both the sake of your life and your dignity. Such taboos do not get dropped by friends after being broken. Living may happen, but, if found out, living it down may not.

Dear Belise,

That is one of the most tragic issues with being a troll- our differing lifespans. You may fight the hemospectrum all you wish, but there is no fighting basic biology. As a Violet blood, you will outlive your moirail by many, many sweeps. This is inevitable, unless you suffer an untimely demise. As such, the truth of this is truly hard to grasp, but while your moirail is there for you now, someday you will need to move on. Hopefully this will not be for some time yet, but when it does come, you will have to be ready for it. That said, you should not let this thought consume you, or that time will run out before you know it and you will have no memories to show for it other than just worry. By advice to you is to take your time and enjoy it. As rare as a pale romance is between such drastic opposites of the hemospectrum, you must not let it pass you by. Your romance may be short, but many others suffer much shorter ones at the hands of vacillation. Assuming your bond is strong, make sure you get as much time as you can to hold this troll in your heart without fretting over the future. When the future arrives, it arrives. There is no stopping it, so spend less time fretting over it and more time enjoying your moirail’s company. You will have more pleasant memories that way.

Dear Toxie, I recently asked a good friend of mine from over-seas if she would me my moirial, since I trust her and we're very honest with each other. She was very happy and told me yes. But, lately, I've been very depressed and I don't want to burden her with my problems. I know that your moirail is supposed to help you, but how can I possibly tell her that I've been depressed without worrying her too much?

If this girl is truly to be your moirail, then you are being unfair to her. The job of a Moirail is to be there for you not only in the good times, but especially the hard ones. Her goal in this relationship is to be your safe haven, the one place you can always turn to and speak your honest feelings. Even if she can’t fix them, she can be there for you to make it less lonely and help you through your tough time. By keeping this from her, you are depriving her of her chance to help you through it and showing a lack of trust for your Moirail. If not her, then who can you trust? If you hide feelings from her, then when she finds out you were hiding them, she will always wonder if you are hiding more. A Moirallegiance that does not have a steady foundation of trust will not stand. I understand that you do not wish to burden her, but that is exactly her job. Moirallegiance is not easy- no relationship of any quadrant is- but it is satisfying to help that special person make it through, knowing that you make the difference in that person’s life that makes every day worth getting up for. That said, you have the same duties as she does. She can help you if you let her, but make sure that you support her through her problems. Make sure she knows that you are always there to help and that there is nothing you won’t do for her. Make sure that she knows that if she ever sent you a message saying ‘I killed someone’, then your only reply would be ‘I can get a shovel’. If you can get this bond of trust and cooperation, then you will find that a Moirail is, in it’s own way, as satisfying as a Matesprit.
