Friday, Friday, Friday ...

Seems strange to be in January 2025. A little surreal. The other side of a Christmas that was advertised, advertised, advertised from about July last year.

When little, I loved the build up to Christmas. The slow progress towards the lights going up ... going shopping with my mum for presents for other people and non perishables ... the eventual arrival of family that led to two weeks of all being together.

Not sure what to make of an all year round Christmas. Curious as to what it's like for children now, what with all the different happenings seemingly happening all together. Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas all jostling together on the shelves ... then half price Christmas stuff vying for shelf space with Valentines and Easter stuff. Hmmmmm ...

Think I'll go back to just peering through the cracks ... concentrate on the chink of light and let commercialism fade out behind me ...
