It is hard to fly when something is weighing you down. Source: unknown
"Where's the water?"
Two little fish, after a long, active swim across the waters for food, leisurely stroll along the sea floor. It's been a good day, the little ones have been fed, the wives are now tucking 'em into their corals and our two friends head towards the tavern at the trench to douse their day's fatigue with beer.
When suddenly, one fish turns to the other and says, "Dudeeeeee, where's the water?"
The other one blinks. And thinks. Blinks again. First one continues, "I mean, we are supposed to be in it but I can't see it. Or even feel it! For all you know, I wouldn't even know it was there. Where is it??!"
"Wellll... it's just there. Right? Right???"
That's how we miss the water. I got thinking about this after a conversation with a dear friend the other day. And it set me thinking. Too often we are so immersed in our opinions, assumptions and calibrations that we don't even realize that our mind sees only through those glasses now. Our perceptions cloud our eyes, prejudice weakens it. We forget that there are other glasses to see the world through. And what happens when we use only pair of glasses? Over time our eyes outwear them and if we don't change, we go blind. Just like that.
So jump out of the water often. Step out of yourself and look around like you don't know yourself or the world you see. Go back, deep breathe and step out again. Astound yourself. :)
